I did my formal arts training in my home town of London, Ontario where I focused mainly on ceramic work with printmaking and painting on the side.

Moving west nearly 30 years ago I spent my time happily working as a potter on Vancouver Island before unexpected events took me to the city of Vancouver for a time. There I rediscovered the pleasure of working in two dimensions and the enchantment of encaustic painting.

I love everything about wax - its sweet smell, immediacy of application and the gorgeous luminosity of colour. It offers an enormous range of possibilities that continue to hold me in thrall.

Now living and working on beautiful Gabriola Island I am able to continue my love affair with wax. I'll be finishing up the 100 book project (see novel concepts) this year and taking this time, during Covid isolation, to explore new techniques and ask myself some new questions which always results in fresh, new directions.
